Hi Kacie,
Now you have a message board on your website! People can write messages to you and you will be able to read them on Kacie's Krusade. And we can all see what other people have written, so we can support each other and you at the same time.
I'm glad to hear that you had a fun Halloween. I live in a very rural area and only had ONE trick-or-treater! It was Spiderman - and he got LOTS of candy.
Love to you and your family!
|
Linda Caporale November 01 |
Hi, Kacie: You must be a celebrity - to have your own message board - it's like a fan club! Thought you had a great idea to have your Dad arrested for stealing your candy - you must watch your Mom as well (I know how she likes chocolate especially)! We had a cowgirl, couple of witches, cheerleaders, fairy princess, surgeons, etc. come to our door last night, but the cutest was a little girl or boy (couldn't tell which because of the costume) who was dressed up as "Fido"--what a cutie! I'm glad you had a nice Halloween, too.
Take care and say "hi" to your Mom and Dad for me.
|
Aunt Idelle November 02 |
Hey Kacie! It sounds as if you had a great Halloween and lots of fun. I loved the picture of your dad....see I told you he would take your candy and now you have proof on a picture! Wait til grandma Normie hears about her boy! So glad you and your mom and dad had a fun Halloween. I could tell by the picture that your room was decorated and I bet that made you feel good. I hope Erin had a fun Halloween and I bet she did. Is it snowing there yet? Brrrrrr....keep warm! I hope you are having a good night. I am thinking of you every second. I love you. Aunt Idelle

Hi Kacie,
You are a very special person to have your own web site. God always takes care of special people so he will take care of you. I saw your picture in the newspaper. You are famous like a movie star. Speaking of movies I also like staying up late nights watching movies on tv. Can't watch the scary stuff. I'm chicken. I like the funny movies and the ones where people travel and see other places. You sure do have a lot of friends. I'll bet they keep you smiling all the time. You have got some great folks. I worked with your dad for years and he was always the nicest guy. You must be nice too. That's why you have so many friends. Well Kacie I better get back to work. Take care, keep smiling and keep watching movies. Tell your dad I said hello. God bless you.

We "look in on you" everyday by reading the "Our Journey" web page. We are so glad you are getting stronger and feeling better every day. We have sent your story out to everyone on our e-mail list and they all were so amazed to find out how brave you and your family have been through the last few months. We loved the Ronald McDonald joke and think it is wonderful you got to tell it to Ronald himself!! We know our God is a God of miracles and that He is not through blessing you yet! We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Wow Kacie! Your progress from day to day amazes me! You have certainly become my HERO! I am going to try to take "Growing Up" lessons from you. Everytime I read your progress reports I am truly amazed and overjoyed!! Actually sometimes when I awaken in the morning and think that I feel too bad to go to work...guess what!! I can see your pretty little face and think just how happy we would all be if you were rushing around in the morning, getting ready for school! SO KACIE YOU HAVE BEEN MY REASON FOR COMING TO WORK QUITE A FEW TIMES!!! But, don't tell mommy that I thought about not coming to work 'cause she might tell my boss! Okay? Have a WONDERFUL DAY!!! Keep up the good work!

Kacie.
We live across the street from you on the corner with the two geese in front and the BIG ditch on the side. Your mommy and daddy were so kind to us last year when my husband had an accident in the ditch just before Christmas. I just learned last week that it was YOU and your family that were going through this right now. Please tell your mommy and and daddy that if there is anything that they need done at the house, and I was told you do have family there, please to call us-we owe them! Our phone number is 757-898-1845. We are thinking and praying for you.

Harry Ingram Sr November 20 |
Hello Donald, although I have never had the pleasure of meeting any of the members of your family, I am keeping up with the progress of you post. I am always asking all the powers that be to give your family the one gift that will last forever, the complete and total recovery of Kacie. I have tried to call you and I have left my telephone number, for in my family, personal contact for well wishing has always been preferable to the written. But being a computer nut and internet junkie, I finally gave up and will see you upon your successful return to us here at home, and I am confident of your success. Much love and all my prayers to your family, ever your friend, Harry "O".
p.s. Thanks for all you have done for me also.

Hi Kacie,
The day after Thanksgiving my mom and I went to North Carolina. We passed by Lake Gaston on our way down there, and I thought of you and Erin and those pretty pictures here on your website of the two of you playing at the lake. Won't it be nice when warm weather is here and you can go back to the lake? It has not rained here for a long time, and the lake looked very low. We need some nice rain to fill the lake up again. I'm glad that you had such a nice visit with Erin and your grandparents. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!
|
The Frisby Family November 26 |
Kacie:
We are glad you got to see Erin and your grandparents for Thanksgiving. What a blessing that must have been for everyone. We went to Ohio to visit Keesy's grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The only bad part was not being able to read your "Our Journey" update every day. We had fun, but were glad to be home again. We can't wait until you are home again, too. We pray that your healing continues every day and that each morning finds you a little bit stronger.

Patrick Jackson November 30 |
Dear Kacie,
We all hope that you will feel better soon. My little boy has the same Fanconi anemia that you do and he sometimes felt terrible just after he had his bone marrow transplant. He got some infections too that were no fun and sometimes scary, but he really liked to get hugs from his mom and me, and that seemed to help a little bit. Do like to hug mom and dad? I know moms and dads like to hug their kids.
We will be thinking of you cheering for you.

First of all, we miss you very much. I can still hear Cole saying, Kacie, Kacie. We would then walk him over so that he could wave to her through her window. So much has changed since then. We want you to know that you guys are never far from our thoughts. We pray for Kacie daily. We also pray that God continues to give you all three the strength to make it through another day, because I know at this point you guys must be tired. Keep your chins up and remember that tomorrow is a new day. We were very blessed to have met you while in Minnesota. We will be praying for a quick recovery for Kacie. God Bless, Amanda & Chris Smith

Louise December 11 |
Good morning Kacie,
This is another one of those days (rainy, yucky) when I thought that I didn't feel like I could come to work, but you got me up AGAIN! Thanks!! You are such an amazing young lady and so very, very special. Sounds as if you had an extremely busy day yesterday. Hopefully you had a peaceful night and got some restful sleep. Soon all of these obstacles will be out of the way and you can be pain free and get lots of rest so that you can start having lots of fun. My 8 year old grandaughter (Ciarra) said a special prayer for you last night. I'm sure that all of the young children (and every adult) who know your name are sending up special messages to GOD for you. Is your room festive and cheerful? My desk has a huge Poinsettia on it. Wish I could send it your way, but it wouldn't be nearly as beautiful as you!!!
|
Aunt Joan December 11 |
Hi sweetie, hope you are feeling much better now. I have been thinking about you and I was remembering last Christmas when we all went over to Newport News and looked at all the pretty Christmas decorations where we walked the streets and it was so-o-o-o-o cold and Zachary would not look at Santa Clause and the decorations. I sent Grandma Honey the pictures we made so you will have to have her show them to you. We will do that again next Christmas when you are back in Virginia. I bet it is the first Christmas that you have missed these houses. It was really a treat for MaMa Ruth and I. Next year Uncle Don wants to go too. Hugs and kisses, you get better now real soon, cause I hear Grandpa and Erin are coming and then Grandma Honey will come back with Grandpa to get Erin. Grandma Honey will bring you and Erin a little something from us....
Love you.....Aunt Joan (Grandma Honey's favorite sister)....

Kaci, I learned of your web page through a group of family researchers. One of the nice things about this family is that most of them have not met each other, but we all share one thing! Family history. And, from time to time pass along other requests such as yours. I am placing you on our prayer requests tomorrow night at our church in Thatcher, Arizona. To your parents I say: "Never understimate the power of prayer" May the Lord Jesus Christ grant you and your family wisdom in the many decisions ahead.
Please kiss and hug your parents for me. Barbara Prestridge

Hey guys-- Boy-you are really going through some rough times. I can't begin to imagine how hard this has been for you with all of these problems going on. I know it is hard to look ahead but hopefully one day and soon things will take a turn for the better and keep headed in that way. I think it is hard when the kids have things go wrong that they don't see very often--the more expected stuff is easier to deal with. Of course you can think that since Kacie is so special she has to have things that she can be proud of that she is able to overcome and that will be special and probably help the doctors learn things to help other kids in the future. I really do hope and pray that you start feeling better, Kacie and that Mom and Dad can get some rest, too. You guys are such positive people and that is such a great thing when you are faced with difficult times. I have been thinking of you alot and will get a card off to you again soon. Can't wait until I hear the news that you can come back to see us. Hang in there and know that you are definitely in our thoughts and prayers. Teresa

Hi Kacie, My mom told me about the miracle gift and we are going to volunteer somewhere. We haven't decided where yet. I went to my Nana's last week for an early Christmas and it was fun. We are having our Christmas party at school next week also. I'm glad that you got to see Santa Claus, me and my sister saw him last week and she wouldn't stop talking and let me talk. Is it still snowing in Minnesota? It is raining a little here today but it is to warm to snow. I hope you have snow for Christmas. I pray for you every night and hope you will get better soon so you can come home and we can play. I miss you.

Dear Kacie-
There are only 9 more days until Christmas! I love you Kacie. Hope you have a nice Christmas. I have made a gingerbread house out of a lot of many things. I have made candy canes for the door. I have made lifesavers for the windows. I used gummy sour things for the top windows. I used graham crakers for the sides of the house. I have made red hots for the sides so they look pretty.
I really miss you and I have a present for you.
I went to the park and looked at the lights. They were very very very very pretty. Yesterday we went to Hannah and Lindsey's house to make Christmas cookies. I wish you could really come home. I do not feel good without you Kacie.
Love,
Zachary

Grandma Honey and Grandpa December 26 |
Kacie,
Grandpa and I are thinking of you so much and wish that we could turn back the years to when you were running around so healthy and happy. You always had a smile on your face and we really loved seeing it. Grandpa was so glad he got to see you the week-end befor Christmas. He was so happy when he walked into your room and you immeditely knew who he was. That was on Saturday night, then on Sunday you just went in and out of sleep. He got up several times, walked over to your bed just to touch you. Then at 2:00a.m., they were told to get over to the hospital as soon as possible. We thank God that the doctors were able to get you on the respirator in time. We pray that you'll be able to wake up soon. Grandpa and I are coming out again this week-end to get Erin. We look forward to seeing our special smile again. We love you so very much.

Good Morning, Kacie: I am glad you had a good day yesterday - I'm sure it was fun opening some of your Xmas presents! You wouldn't believe the snow we received in Virginia yesterday - some areas got up to 12 inches. Of course, the schools were closed yesterday and many of the businesses. We got a little taste of what the people in Minnesota get. Tell your Mom and Dad hello for me - I pray that you will have a great day today. I'm so glad you and your Mom got to have some "girl" time together - that means a lot for you both - daughters are pretty special you know and Moms love it when they have those precious shared moments. Love, Linda

Please continue to grow stronger day by day and know that we think of you always.

Kacie:
We hope you are feeling much better. Valentine's Day is coming and the best Valentine present all your friends and neighbors at Lakeside Forest and GBES could get is for you to get better and come back home to Virginia. You'll be able to find your way home easier -- we put the new Lakeside Forest signs up at both entrances! We watched the Olympics Opening Ceremony last night and thought that you are like the Child of Light, who inspired everyone to find their Fire Within. Your journey has shown us the power of prayer and helped us remember what is really important in life: our family, our friends, our health, and our God. When I was a little girl and would be afraid, or sick, or just wanted to escape from the situation I was in, I would pretend to climb up on Jesus lap and talk to him. Maybe that will help you, too. Keesy can't wait for you to get home. We all miss you!!
** Gregg, Kim, Kira, Kyla, Seth, and Keesy -- S'koshi and Stormy, too **

You are a incredibly wonderful and a very cute girl, hehe. :-) Well I along with my family and friends will continue to pray for you. Just know that you have a great deal of people that care for you deeply. Someday maybe I will get to meet you. Well you take care and God bless you very much. :-)

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!! I guess you heard that GBES sold over 1,400 "Grizzly Grams" to raise money to donate to both you and Matt Wilbert's family. Keesy got 5 of them and they were so cute! Each Grizzly Gram was a little paper bear, holding a heart, with a lollipop attached to it. The best gift you could give us is to come home to Grafton. Spring is coming. The daffodils are beginning to sprout up, and we all miss your "smiles and giggles". Enjoy your family visit over the President's Day week-end. We are still holding you in our thoughts and prayers and believing that God will bring your blood counts up, up, up!!

Kacie,
You are such a BRAVE little girl! I know that it has been hard on you, but God is looking over you and is going to be making you stronger every day. God always tells us that he will never give us more than we can handle, so that must mean that you are a very strong little girl. I hope that you keep that sweet smile on your face and I am looking forward to being able to take you on the seadoo this summer at the lake. Kathi and Donald, I think about you every day and pray that God gives you the strength and courage you need to get through this difficult time. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you here.
Lots of love coming your way,

Jennifer(Jiffer) Frandsen February 20 |
Kacie, Hi! I am a friend of Caleb's. I'm so glad his mommy and daddy told me about you, so that I can pray for you too! You and Caleb inspire me so much because you are sooo BRAVE. I will pray that God will show your DR.'s exactly how to help you and what to do to make your body heal fast. To Kacie's mommy and daddy- I will pray for endurance and strength as you both continue to live in this daily battlefield of what has now become your "reality". As a mom and nurse myself, I can only try to imagine how hard this is to watch little Kacie on this painful "rollercoaster". Please know that I will continue to lift up your entire family to our Maker in prayer. I'm glad(well, not really, because I wish neither of your families had to go through this at all)that Amy and Steve have another Christian family they can relate to during this difficult time.

Hello!
My name is Sarah. I'm am 20 yrs old and in my second of three years in college. I am pursuing a double major of Medical Lab Technology and Biological sciences. I am taking a hematology course this semester. We have to give a 10-15 minute oral presentation on a topic pertaining to hematology (blood). My topic is Fanconi anemia. I was wondering if I could use your family's story as part of my presentation. If not, that is perfectly fine. I wanted to ask your permission first. I am doing my presentation on March 7th (and I'm the first presenter! Ahhh!). An additional info would also be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Dear Kacie and Family,
Although I am a complete stranger to you, I felt inclined to send this to you. Last week Kacie found my driver's license on the ground in Minneapolis and and I thought it was incredible to get the license back, let alone the ten dollars. You are very nice people and I thank you ever so much. I also want to let you know that you are in my prayers. I had thought to come visit you, Kacie, at the hospital, but then I realized that I don't know the room number and things like that. Anyways, I wish you nothing but the very best, bright smiley days, and a quick road to recovery.
Sincerely,
Julie

Teresa Black March 03 |
Hey guys! I ahve been keeping up with things from the web site. Boy--you have had way too many difficult challenges and like you said have gotten way more than a nursing degree. Luckily Kacie is such a fighter and I do hope and pray that the days take a much quicker and better turn for the better. I can't imagine how hard it has been for you guys to just have to sit, hope, wait and pray. It doesn't make sense as to "why" she has to go thru this again when she had such a hard time in December. I was really hoping(like you) that you would be having good news by now and looking at being able to come home. Your strength and God's work together need to make Kacie turn the corner. She has had more than she needed to of unusual problems, esp. with the meningitis. My heart goes out to you and please know that all of your family is in my prayers. Please give Kacie a hug for me and let her know how much I miss her. I ask God to watch over you, too--to give you a great miracle in making Kacie strong enough to fight whatever is ahead of her. I am glad that you have alot of support--I know you never expected to be going through all of this. I know it is hard to take a day at a time and probably more like hour by hour, but I know that is all you can do. Kacie is so lucky that you are able to be with her and that you are so strong in your faith. I conldn't help but cry a few times when I read some of the entries-just knowing how she must feel. I wish I could be there to help take care of her, too--she is such a sweetie. I will be in touch and stay up with the journal entries. Again--my thoughts and prayers are with you. Teress--Kaycie''s clinic nurse

Just a reminder that prayers for the Goodwin family are first on my list every morning. Even when I was in San Diego the last week of February, you were in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure they reach you, no matter which coast they come from :)
Although this journey has been a steep climb, just remember that: "Trials are not enemies of faith, but are opportunities to prove God's faithfulness". Your stregth and courage are an inspiration to us all. We're here, we care, and we are praying for continued miracles to heal Kacie so you can all come home. The neighborhood feels empty without you!!

Though I am more familiar with the Hurler families, I found your web site this morning and wanted to offer my love and prayers to you. She is doing very well, and I pray your little Kacie will be blessed in the same way. Sounds like she is making the right steps to slowly and incrementally improve. Place your faith in the Lord...He will see you through!

Hello, Kacie and Kathi and Donald,
I had not visited your "journey" site for a while, but I took time today to catch up on how you are doing. It has obviously been a long hard winter but here we are in April and hopefully things will be looking up soon!
I am thinking of you in particular today because the Virginia spring is really taking hold, and you are 'way up north where it is still pretty cold. We had a freeze on Saturday night (killed some plants that I was dumb enough to buy and plant too early) but now it appears that we are on our way to spring time for real. The dogwoods and azaleas are blooming and little green leaves are popping out on the trees. The sound of sniffling and sneezing is everywhere, thanks to all the pollen! But it is beautiful outdoors and I know you are all looking forward to being back down here to enjoy it hopefully very soon!
best wishes, Vicki Clark

Susan Horton April 08 |
Hi Kacie! We have a few friends in common-- Chris Youngblood and Bonnie Dixon. This is the first time I have visited your website. It's really cool! I will be praying for you and will add you to the prayer list at my ladies Bible study. Guess what? My birthday is July 23 just like yours, however I'm a wee bit older than you. I'll be 34 on my birthday. I am thrilled to see all the fund raising events that have taken place over the past year in your honor. Have you considered the special role you're playing in changing peoples' lives? Because of your suffering, people who probably never pray or hardly ever pray are talking to Jesus on your behalf. They are connecting to our Savior and I know that when we talk to Jesus He touches our hearts and lives in ways we can't begin to imagine. At 7 years old your're changing lives in ways people who live to be 80 never do! You go girl!! "For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 May God continually shower you with His grace and blessings. I hope to meet you when you come home.
Susan

We hope that spring will bring a renewal of good health to you, just as it has brought life back to the flowers, trees, and grass here in Virginia. Kathy Beckham April 24 |
Dear Kacie,
You haven't met me, or my family yet. I am new to Seaford Baptist Church. My name is Kathy, and my husband's name is Don (isn't that a coincidence?) We have been learning more about you every week through the church announcements and the website. You would be so touched to know how much the whole church is praying for you! It is one of the reasons we like this church so much! I have wanted to write to you for quite a while, and so has my daughter, Rebekah, who is in your sunday school class. She has really been praying that you could come home soon and meet her! I think you two will be great friends! Lately, you have had such a hard time, but Rebekah is convinced that you will be better soon. I know what you are doing there is difficult but I thought you need to know that we are waiting for you to come home, and have FUN with us...what a celebration that will be! Rebekah would like to write you herself, and has made some pictures to give you when you get better. I hope you don't mind just being "pen-pals" for now, and later you can meet her. When she comes home from school, I will allow her to get on the computer to email you another letter. Remember that we are praying, and can't wait to meet you in person. I hope today goes well for you and all your family, too. Love, Kathy Beckham (and Rebekah).

Lori Boothe April 25 |
Hi, Kacie! I'm glad to hear your surgery went well. I just received this poem in my email, I don't know who wrote it but it says the words that are true to heart:
> YOU NEVER KNOW WHO'S PRAYING FOR YOU
>
> You never know who's praying for you,
> So I decided to let you know,
> That Jesus truly loves you,
> And his love will overflow.
>
> I asked the lord to bless you,
> As I prayed for you today,
> To guide you and protect you,
> As you go along your way.
>
> His love is always with you,
> His promises are true,
> And when we give Him all our cares,
> You know he will see us through.
>
> So when the road you're traveling on
> Seems difficult at best,
> Just remember I'm here praying,
> And God will do the rest.
>
Take care, honey. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers always. Lori Boothe

How courageous and trusting in our Loving Father that you graciously let go of your own wants and needs for the ultimate happiness of your precious little girl. As hard as it is to let go, your trust in God's plan is a wonderful testament to your faith. Dear Kacie, I did not know you personally but have no doubts from reading about your journey and family that you were the most loved and lucky little girl while you visited here. May you rejoice in your heavenly presence and forever surround all who miss your sweet smiles. Heaven is celebrating and welcoming home Kacie, Carley, and Caleb!!!
Much love to you all.

Susan Shaw April 27 |
To Kacie's family -- I have never met you nor have I ever posted before, but I have been following Kacie's journey for the past several months. I am writing with tears at the realization that Kacie's journey is taking her to the arms of God but away from her earthly family. My own daughter is disabled, and although she is not in any medical struggles herself, some of her friends and classmates will probably join Kacie before they reach adulthood. My perspective on life has been buoyed as I followed your daughter's journey, even as we weep that she is going away. May God bless and comfort you.

It has been my honor to know and serve you, Kacie. You have been an inspiration to me and to many that I know. It has been a joy to serve you in Kid's Praise, but now you get to enjoy the comfort of our Father's arms. It is my prayer that I might be able to live my life with as much courage as you have. I will pray for your family that they may have peace to guide them on, but I know you are in a place I long for: home.
Everyone here at Kid's Praise will miss you so very much, but you have given us such a wonderful gift. You have helped to give us hope. We do not grieve as those who do not have hope, but as those who know that our Creator, Jesus Christ, has rescued us from death by His sacrifice.
'For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life'
-John 3:16

To Donald, Kathi & Erin April 28 |
A beloved friend sent this to me, almost three years ago, it helped me then, as I hope in some way, it will help you, now.
A MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN
Perhaps you aren't ready yet, to have to say good-bye . . .
Perhaps you've thought of things you wish you'd said - - well, so have I.
For one thing, I'd have told you not to worry about me . . .
I'm with the Lord in Heaven now - - you knew that's where I'd be.
I'm sorry that you're feeling sad, for I'm so happy now . . .
I've asked the Lord to ease the hurt and comfort you somehow.
It's hard at the beginning, but I know you'll make it through . . .
I hope it helps to know that I'll be waiting here for you.
JOHN 14:3 (NIV)
And if I go and prepare a placd for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

May the Lord wrap you all HIS arms as only He can do and give you comfort in the days and weeks ahead. Kacie has changed my life forever, she is an inspriration to so many people. It's 6:30 Sunday morning and as a start to my day I wanted to visit my friend, Kacie. I had not visited Kacie since Friday and so I am just in complete shock over what I have read this morning. Kacie I know that it it is time for you to rest after a long hard battle but I'm REALLY going to miss you. I'm honored to have had the opportunity to work with you and your family my first year at GBES and then again during the weeks before you left you have your bone marrow transplant. My prayers have been with you during this entire ordeal and will continue to be with you and your family. Kacie I'll never forget your smiles and giggles. You will be very sadly missed.

Dear Kathi, Donald, Erin and all of Kacie's loved ones. All of you and Kacie have been in our family's constant prayers. We have followed your faithful journey every day for the last several months. I cannot keep the tears from streaming down my face. We have 5 children and God holds children very special in his eyes, heart and arms. Kacie will feel comfort from his over powering love. She will always be comforted by the love you have given here on earth.I cannot even begin to understand the grief you feel with your loss. As I read your updates last night, I heard Kacie say " I see the angels, and they really are beautiful". May you find comfort in your faith in the Lord. Carol

The Frisby Family April 28 |
We are heartbroken that God has chosen to end Kacie's journey by taking her to Heaven, but we know that His will is perfect -- even if we can't understand it now. We are also comforted by knowing that Kacie's pain, sadness, and frustration are over, and that the angels rejoiced to welcome Kacie's pure and courageous spirit into Jesus' kingdom. At last Kacie is free to smile and giggle again, as she runs and plays, ready to welcome us all when our time comes to be with the Lord forever. May the "peace that passes all understanding" sustain you through what, without His presence and love, would be an unbearable grief. We have been humbled by your strength, courage, and faith throughout the past year. May God continue to keep you in the palm of His hand.
|
Sharon Pellino April 28 |

Kathi, Donald, and Erin... I am a new member at Seaford Baptist but have been coming for 2 years now and remember the beginning of updates back in September that ended with the news this morning that it was our Father's choice to heal Kacie in Heaven rather than here on earth. It was only today that I realized there was a web link from our church's site to this one, and I've spent the afternoon reading of your family's journey. I know that the same Lord who has taken Kacie to safety and healing will continue to be with you as your journey continues. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you. I am looking forward to hearing more testimony of His faithfulness to you in the coming months.

Cousin Zachary April 28 |
Kacie, I really really miss you. I wish I got to see you last night, but now you are up in heaven. I wish you could always look at me whenever I do something. I hope you have a good time up there with God and Jesus. I hope you like your wings, because know what you can do? My teacher told me that you can fly. I miss you Kacie. I know that you are an angel now and I will see you again someday. Love, Zachary

Don, Kathi and Erin,
We have been with you in spirit each and every day, prayers flowing and beig answered. We pray now that The Master will comfort you as He is comforting Kacie. Lisa read your posts daily and shared them with the family every night. We shared your highs and lows, and now share in your loss.
Do not stand on my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken, in morming's hush,
I am the swifter, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines each night
Do not stand on my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.....
Godspeed Kacie,
Mike, Lisa and Family

Donald, Kathi, and Erin:
Kacie has a very special place in Heaven with her maker and father. I am sure that she is spreading those "smiles and giggles" everywhere she goes. She has touched thousands of lives here on earth and will touch millions from now on. My prayers go with you and your family for it is the ones left behind that suffer most. The Heavens will be brighter and a new star was added to the heavens. It will shine brighter than any other with the spirit of her heart. May God bless you and your family during this period. I grew to love her and the loss is great. I will miss her smiles and courage.

Dear Kathy,
I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful daughter. You and your family are in my prayers. God will in time, strengthen and keep you. Kacie, is with our Lord now, and she has ascended into heaven. There are going to be trying days, ahead, but if you look to the "hills from whence cometh your help, it comes from Jesus".
You will miss Kacie, but you know that she is in a much better place. All her pain is now gone. God always claims his own.
Take care of yourself, Beverly

Terry Knight April 29 |
Don, Kathy, Erin and especially Kacie.....I have read your "journey" with much interest and admiration (for each of you) since Kathy's Mom and Dad were here in March to introduce me to your site. Each and every morning would begin with the news from the day before, followed by the emotional high or low as relayed through your message, ALWAYS followed by that moment of prayer thanking God for His wisdom, His intervention, His miracles.....all as relayed and shared through you...... Thank you for being so open with the process of life.....and thank you for getting me to focus on your journey, God's blessing and your very, very special family.
As all who will "tune in" to your site in the next few days, I sit here with tears in my eyes, saddness in my heart and yet, even now ....YOU still show me just how very special each of you are......reminding me that God is still here and still in charge.
God Bless You All! Please know that Kacie has affected me (as well as countless others) and that I will never be the same.....not only because of her gorgeous smile, her infectious laugh....but because of her LIFE! Kacie has been and still is a true inspiration.....as have each and every one of you.
As you have signed off for many days.....
Smiles and giggles......with prayer and admiration.
Another friend in Virginia,
Terry Knight

I am very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your struggles on this website. You've brought a lot of people at VIMS closer together in community, and reminded us daily to hold our children close and cherish every moment together.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Dear Kathy, Don and Erin:
Your courage and faith over the past year have been more than inspirational. We have cried and prayed with you every day and if there was anything we could do or say to ease your grief it would be done. Although we know in our hearts that Kacie is in a wonderful place where she will never know pain or fear or sorrow, everyone who ever met her is going to miss her. Her sweetness and fun loving personality radiated and touched you immediately. She will forever and always live in our memories of her. Brigid, Rick & Charles

My thoughts are with all of you and have been for some time. I am so very sorry that your journey did not take you down the path you hoped to go, but in our hearts we know that God has a plan much greater than ours and your precious Kacie is in a much better place! God has taken care of everything and now has taken His angel home with Him, away from all of the pain and sadness she was going through! I can only hope that as the days go by, your pain will be replaced by happy memories of your beautiful little girl. Thank you for sharing her, and yourselves, with all of us here at Fairview - she has touched so many lives, so many hearts! You are in my thoughts! Jane

Proverbs 3:15-18
"....She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed..."
We, the Taliaferros, feel truly blessed to have crossed paths with Kacie and her precious family at Vernon Mason Karate. We especially remember Kacie at the Kick-A-Thon, and how we stood in the field in front of the Dojo and floated lots of beautiful balloons toward heaven. She and Payton enjoyed hanging out together while Jordan and Erin participated in karate.
The Word of the Lord is true and all powerful. Her short life is a living testimony to us all to embrace life, love and trust God, and be at peace no matter what the situation may be.
We stand ready to assist you in any way we can.
Lovingly,

Dear Don and Kathy,
Saturday evening I saw Steve and Amy shortly after they had spoken to you about Kacie. My heart has wept for you since. Many in our church who have followed you and prayed for Kacie and all of you were saddened because of your loss. I am grieved. It is such a bitter-sweet thing. Kacie is finally healed, that's the sweet. But we have suffered unimaginable loss. So we rejoice but through tears. I hope my weeping for you will somehow, in the heavenlies, bear a little of your burden of pain.
Kacie was such a sweetheart (and, oh, if we could see her now). Heaven is certainly pleased to have her. I know there are no words to be spoken, so I sit in silence, grieving for you, yet rejoicing for Kacie. She has been such a trooper. "Precious (costly) is the death of His godly ones."
I know Steve and Amy are coming to see you. I am so glad about that. When I saw that Kacie was getting worse last week I had tried to find a way to get back up there to see you and Kacie, but was unable. I am sorry. You are in my heart and prayers. I am sure all of your friends looked forward to greeting Kacie in the airport some day. But now we look forward to being greeted by Kacie when we go to meet the Lord Jesus in the air. That will truly be a glorious day.
Please know that I love you guys.

Don, Kathy, and Erin,
I don't even know where to begin to express how saddened I am by the news about Kacie. I didn't get to spend much time with her, but in the little time I did spend with her she touched my life. From the moment I met her, I knew she was special. I followed her progress everyday and prayed 24 hours a day for this precious little life. It is comforting to know that she is now with the Lord in a far better place. She feels no pain or discomfort. I'm praying for you and the rest of your family as you go through this difficult time. May God grant peace on your hearts.

Dear Don, Kathy and Erin,
Beautiful Kacie is now up in heaven playing with the other Angels. I prayed everyday and will continue to pray for your family as well as the other families that have touched my life through their children. I have no words. All I feel is sadness at the passing of such a fantastic person, and a sense of loss that she will not grow to adulthood here on earth. I know, however, that she is wrapped in God's love right now, and that her pain and suffering are over. She will be missed, and I will pray for God to sustain you during this time of terrible loss. You will know and feel God's tender care even more keenly during this time. Take care of yourselves. Laura

The Huffman Family April 29 |
When Jessica and I went to pray last night after talking about Kacie my 5 year old daughter asked why we were so sad. When we explained this to her she simply said "but Mom we know Jesus so we'll see her again, you shouldn't cry". Ah, to see things from the perspective of a 5 year old. But she is so right, we will see her again. You are, as always, in our prayers. We have grown together as a family by sharing your Journey and would like to thank you for so openly sharing with us. There is a song that we heard several years ago that I loved the words to that seems so appropriate during a time like this and it says "God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind, when you don't understand and you can't see His plan, when you can't trace His hand trust His heart." God Bless.

Dear Goodwin family~
Even though yall probably don't know me, I've really been blessed from your daughter's life. I'm 13 years old and a leader in Kid's Praise at Seaford Baptist and we prayed SOOO much for her. She was always on our minds, hearts, and prayers. I felt so bad when I heard about what was happening to her. I wanted to go to the hospital and give her some "magic pill" that whould make her all better. But I couldn't. So I had to rely on God's strengh and healing power. But now that she passed away I don't feel sorrow. I know in my heart that God was just tired of living without his baby girl and seeing her suffer, that he picked her up and carried her to a much better place. A place where she had no more pain or suffering, no troubles of the earth, and no more worring about if she was going to make it to see the next day. She is with God where she is ment to be. And just think-when yall's day comes to be with the Father, you will get to see that wonderful shining face with out the tubes, without the medicines, and with out the pain. She is in the best place there ever will be and yall will get to see her soon. Just remember God loves you and has a plan for everything. In my love and His- Rachel Murray
P.S.~ She is in a place that has Kids Praise 24/7!!

I just met Donald today on his Journey home. I work here in Mn and I was devasted to hear what had happened to Kacie. He gave me the web address after showing me a picture of Kacie. I told him I gave him a lot of credit to go through what he was. I myself have 2 children and couldn't imagine going through what the Goodwin Family has. I never knew just what a struggle it was with a child that was ill. I have only read that archives up until November 2001. And I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. My prayers are with you. And just know God does things for mysterious reasons but its like dominoes they all fall together they way it was meant. May God Bless you and everyone of whom you've opened your lives to with your Krusade.love From MN..jackie

Even though i did not know Kacie personally, i loved her as a my sister in Christ. All my prayers and thoughts have been with Kacie and her family from the first day her older cousin Wendi told me about her. I know it must be extremely hard having to lose a special girl such as Kacie, but God freed her from the pain and suffering that she had to go through and lifted her into his arms. My prayers are with her family, relatives, and friends. May God comfort and bless you all.

Our friends in Christ:
I am so terribly sorry to hear of Kacie's return to heaven. My sadness is not for her sake. No, she is truly at rest and will be forever. May Jesus be praised for His love of our little ones.
May He also be praised for His love for you all. My sadness is for you, mom and dad. I know what faith you have from the way you announced Kacie's return to heaven. I am always humbled when I see what great faith others have when they must let their children go for the glorious return to their true home.
I think of Kacie often and will pray for you all as you deal with the loss of your child. I will also thank the Lord for your great faith and great witness. I am truly in awe of such great people of faith such as you.
May the Lord bless and hold you in His loving hands now and forever.
With love.

Donald,Kathi and Erin,
You and Kacie have been on my mind much of the last couple days. You are and amazing family. Your strength has always amazed me. I have been truly blessed to have met you and especially blessed to have been able to take care of Kacie over the last 6 months. She was a wonderful little girl and now she has taken her true form and is watching over us all. She's up there flying with the other angels, laughing, playing and eating all the peanut butter cups she can get her little hands on. I for one am glad to have her out there watching over us. Take comfort in knowing that is no longer hurting and that God will watch over her and your family always. Take care of yourselves, we will miss seeing your friendly faces around the unit. God Bless, Courtney.

Kathi and Donald and Erin, so many people have been on this journey with you and Kacie and God. Thank you for being so open about all your blessings, and for being open about all those dark times when faith can only be expressed with tears and questions. We thank you that all of your decisions regarding Kacie have been based on faith and guided by prayer. This victory is wrapped inside a mystery. We want to be with you in the days ahead, just as we have been with you until now. "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails". (I Cor. 13:7,8)

I want to let you know how deeply Kacie's life has touched me. Don and Kathi, I want you to know that I care for you both and I am proud to know you. You have really been an inspiration to many people and I believe you will continue to be as well.
I know that you both have faith that can move mountains... and God will use you both to help other parents who will go through similar circumstances.
If there is anything at all I can do to help you ... whether it's grocery shopping or whatever... I'm available. Please call me either at home or work 245-4228. I pretty much have the liberty to leave whenever... so if you need anything at all I hope you feel comfortable enough in asking me.
Love, Marion

Kathi, Donald and Erin: Words cannot express the emotions I feel about the loss of Kacie. My heart breaks for you and your family. What an inspiration you all have been to all of us -- we need only think about your strength and courage and that of Kacie's when life seems to deal us what we think is a bad deal - for most of us trivial in comparison to what you have faced. Kathi, I think back on the days when you were thinking about using the website as a chronicle of events for you and all of your family and friends. Thank you for making the decision to use the website and taking the time to let us be a part of Kacie's journey. Depending on what was happening with Kacie, we suffered and rejoiced each day with you. Your faith and strong belief that God was in control and knew the best for Kacie should inspire those who don't know Him and should help you make it through the days ahead. What a special gift Kacie was to us all! We love you and share deeply in your sorrow and pain. Love, Linda

Don,Kathi and Erin
I am a friend of Mickie's who lives in Savannah, Georgia. Mickie and I were best of friends and classmates while she lived here in Savannah, which was before Don was born. We have kept in touch through the years. I e-mailed Mickie a birthday greeting and she responded this morning, telling me about your family's plight. I read your website and saw what a beautiful child Kacie is and how brave she was. I know she is in a better place and that she is aware of your love as well as the awesome love of God. I pray that God will continue to sustain you through all of the extenuating effects of this experience. Mickie said she is flying home today. Please tell her that I am also thinking of her as well as the rest of the Goodwin family. Please tell your mother, Norma, Zeb, Wendell, and Idelle hello for me and that my heart goes out to them also. They will remember me, I am sure. Sincerely, Betty Drake

Someone please let me know what the final plans are going to be.

Dear Goodwins, I first want to thank you for sharing your lives with us on 4A/E. The love and devotion that I saw within your family was an honor to be a part of. The strength of your love to one another sets a great example for us all to achieve. I shall miss Kacie, Miss her big trusting eyes and smiles at night. I shall miss our late night talks Kathi, and gentle ribbing from Don... Take care of one another, Kate (Kacies night nurse)

Dear Goodwin Family:
I've not written before, but I have read Kacie's web page daily since the first of the year. She has regularly been in my thoughts and prayers. My son Alex (age 14) is scheduled for a transplant in Minneapolis on June 25th.
All of you have been an inspiration to me through your strength, your hopefulness, and your love for each other. You have in many ways "mentored" me and my family as we embark on "Our Journey".
I offer my condolences on the loss from this world of your lovely Kacie. She fought a good fight. Your angel will be with you and the many people she touched always. May her light and the light of God guide you through this difficult time.
You are in my prayers,
Sharon

Thanks so much for sharing Kacie with so many people. We checked the website every day and felt as we knew Kacie - not only after she became sick, but knew her when she was well and healthy. We have a lot of people in Fayetteville praying for all of you and I know the Lord will get you all through this very hard time. We love you all and can't even imagine your grief - but you also have joy in knowing where Kacie is and knowing that all her pain is gone. I don't know how anyone gets through something like this without the Lord. If there's ever anything at all we can do to help, please let us know. We'd feel it a privilege. Love, J.D. and Nancy

Kathi, Donald and Erin-- I was very saddened to hear of Kacie's passing. I'm glad that she is now out of pain and in a happy place. I have followed your journey from the beginning- reading every journal entry. Day after day I was amazed at the strength that you all had....Kacie's especially, but also yours, Kathi and Donald. To sit down each night and tell us all how Kacie was doing and to pour out all of your hopes and fears.....it must have taken incredible strength and faith in God. You all are truly an inspiration.

Hello Kathi, Donald and Erin
My poems for Kacie have been just for her but this one is for you three. My prayers are with you all.
New Angel
I left you with a flutter
of my new angel wings
I giggled and smiled
and began to sing
On my journey to join
my friends on high
I’m so sorry I made you
unhappy and cry
All of my angels were
perched on their clouds
They sang “Welcome Kacie”
and they were quite loud
They were all sorry I had to
leave my earthly place
But told me they would make room
in their heavenly space
It’s so wonderful here
with no pain and sorrow
We all welcome each minute
and every tomorrow
They told me I’m allowed
earthly visits real soon
To all the sick children
and visit their room
I can flutter down
To share my giggles and smile
Then return to my cloud
and send get well prayers for a while
I can also send memory wishes
for my family to see
To help them all smile again
and remember only me
But you know I’m with Jesus now
and am happy once again
And in his loving arms I will
always remain.
Much love
Ruth

Don, Kathy & Erin
You and Kacie have been in our prayers since your journey began. We have had a picture of Kacie posted on our refridgerator, that Taylor took last year at school, during your journey. When I came from early service Sunday and told Taylor of Kacies passing she said Kacie was not in pain any more. God did answer all of our prayer and did in fact heal Kacie. Not in the earthly way we had hoped but in his way. Gods will will always be done. The choir at church sang a song last year at easter called "If you could see me now." The words are a very fitting tribute to Kacie. If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold. If you could see me now I'm standing tall and whole. If you could see me now, you know I've seen his face. If you could see me now you would never want me to leave this perfect place. I'm sure Kacie passing smiles and giggles to everyone in heaven. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless.

Kathy, Donald, Erin and Grandparents - Kacie was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and read her daily journal. It broke my heart when I read it Saturday evening. It is at times like these that man is helpless. It is only God who can speak the words that calm the sea, still the wind, and ease the pain. So lean on Him, and you will never walk alone. "For Such A Little While......God gave you your daughter, sister and granddaughter for such a little while; He put a bit of heaven in the sunchine of her smile. He took dust from the brightest twinkling stars and made her sparkling eyes; and now, she's gone back home to God, to play up in the skies. And though she left so quickly that your hearts are grieved and sad, we know she lives with God and her small heart is glad. And though your precious darling was just a rosebud small; she'll bloom in all her beauty on the other side of the wall." (Helen Steiner Rice) May your faith now bring you comfort and help you understand our Father up in heaven now holds your loved one's hand. May He always be beside you as you go along life's way.

Susan Davis May 02 |
I just want you all to know how sorry I am for your pain and for your loss and my heart grieves for you during this time. There is no way that I can comprehend what you have been through and what you are going through now, but I do want you to know that I and my family and church family have been praying for you and your family. My 5 yr old neice and I were talking about Kacie and she even had her class at church pray for Kacie.
Kacie was an absolute blessing to be around and I am grateful for the short time that I did get to spend with her. I am thankful for the joy she brought to my heart and I will always remember her laugh, smile and silly stories. I don't know why this had to happen, but I know that there were accomplishments and new discoveries made through this and it is amazing to see how many lives have been touched by your families' faith and courage. My prayer is that you will always feel Kacie's presence with you and a peace that she is in the hand of God and I pray that your burden may be lifted and that you will continually feel surrounded by God's love and comfort. May we all learn through this that we need to show the most love to every person in our lives and to not take any minute of our lives or health for granted. May we live each day, each breath that God has given us to glorify Him and make a difference in someone else's life as your family has done. May God bless your family in every way. Thank you for sharing your life with so many others. Thank you for making a difference.

Dear Friends in Christ,
I have been following Kacie's courageous battle through Russell Reames Sunday School class at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. Many of us have been praying for you during the last year. In the midst of all that has happened in the last week, remember that your family has been lifted up continually to the Father and that He loves you so much.
I lost my son to diabetes complications in 1999. He was much older (28), and made choices that contributed to his death, but knowing that he had made a decision for Christ long before his death was such a comfort for me. Likewise, you know where Kacie is and that will continue to help you as the days go by. Precious memories will become even more so. Life will go on - allow it to move your forward. God will be with you every day. I pray His blessings to all of you.
In His love,
Sue Whited

I would like to express to you my sadness on the loss of your daughter. Such a beautiful child will be equally loved in Heaven. I recently lost my mom after a long illnes. I don't know and won't say I know how you feel because losing a child is something no human should ever have to go through. I just know that things will eventually settle down and you'll be able to reflect on her sweet life. Thank God you were able to show Kacie that learning to live comes a little easier when one learns how to die, with grace and peace. When my mom died I realized that having her in that condition wasn't what she wanted, then I told her we'd be just fine, then she smiled, closed her eyes and took her last breath. I'm praying for your family.

To the family of Kacie's Krusade, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious little loved one. Although, I did not know her, it brings sadness and happiness to my heart, just reading about her. She was a beautiful child, with lots of love from her immediate family and extended family and friends. I am sure this played an important part in her illness. Please know that I will continue to pray for your family and am happy that Kacie is at Peace with the Lord. May God forever Bless you all.

Your family is in my prayers today, as I can imagine the pain in your hearts, as wel as the emptiness. Losing a child is the worst pain imaginable. Kacie is with you always, and is with our Lord and Savior, at peace. May God bless you and comfort you until the day you are reunited.

I just finished reading your whole journal today, since hearing of your daughter through a friend that attends Seaford Baptist. My heart breaks for your family, as well as the other families you mentioned that also lost their children. I was unfortunately familiar w/ a lot of the medical terms & procedures because of a genetic immune disorder (X-linked Hyper IgM) with which my two boys have been diagnosed. We have been considering bone marrow transplant, so your journal has been very helpful in gathering information. Thank you for taking the time to make it available. May God surround you w/ His love and comfort. I look forward to meeting Kacie in heaven one day. She sounds like a delightful girl.

Dear Mr and Mrs Goodwin and Erin-
I was shocked and saddened to read in the paper of Kacie's passing. I remember her and Erin well from Vernon Mason where my son, Billy Cole , took Karate lessons with her. The one thing I remember most was her beautiful smile. IT just seemed to take up her whole face and radiate happiness. SHe was a beautiful little girl but her smile was extra special. Her whole face seemed to glow when she smiled. I remember the courage she had during sparring. She was so much smaller than most of the other children but yet she matched or surpasses them in the courage she had to stand up and give it her past in all sparring contests.
I'm sure her smail will continue to radiate from heaven and I parya that God will bless you all with peace as you face this new challenge in your lives.
Most Sincerely,
Linda Roos Cole

I hope this little poem I wrote a little while back for another angel that went home will bring some comfort...
On Angel Wings
As our loved one leaves this world
Send the angels with wings unfurled
To carry her close, as she goes home
To keep the promise, she won't be alone
As her Shepherd, we know you'll guide
Through the valley to the other side
We know you love her as we do
So she'll be safe at home with you
We trust you Lord, for you know best
On angel wings, our loved one rests
For Kacie

It is with a heavy heart that I write this note to you all. I was both very heartbroken to hear Kacie is no longer with us and happy she is no longer suffering. My family, friends, & I prayed every day she would make it through her treatment and come home to be the happy little girl I once knew. Now I pray for the entire family at this hard time. Please know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers and that I am here should you need anything. Kacie truly was an Angel and I am happy to have been "touched" by her. I know I will never look at Smiley-faces without remembering her. May God Bless you all.

GOD LOOKED AROUND HIS GARDEN AND FOUND AN EMPTY SPACE. HE THEN LOOKED DOWN UPON THIS EARTH AND SAW YOUR TIRED FACE. HE PUT HIS ARMS AROUND YOU AND LIFTED YOU TO REST. GOD'S GARDEN MUST BE BEAUTIFUL, HE CHOOSES ONLY THE BEST. HE KNEW YOU WERE SUFFERING AND IN SO MUCH PAIN. HE ALSO KNEW IN HEAVEN YOU WOULD NEVER HURT AGAIN. HE KNEW YOUR ROAD WAS GETTING ROUGH, AND THE HILLS SO HARD TO CLIMB. SO HE CLOSED YOUR WEARY EYELIDS AND WHISPERED "PEACE BE THINE". IT BROKE OUR HEART TO LOOSE YOU, BUT YOU DID NOT GO ALONE. FOR A PART OF US WENT WITH YOU, THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME.

Hello I am sorry that all this has happen but I want you to know the lives you are tocahing by how strong you have through all this. I would like to share a poem I wrote with you.I am working on one esp. for kacie but till then i would like to share this with you.
Missing you By-heather bell
I dont want to let go but i know that I must,
playing the tough role, trying to be strong.
What will become of all this that seems wasted?
Will it all be put into missing you?
One day I'll be stronger, I'll be able to hide all my care.
Not showing this hurt maybe not seeming to care
I dont want to loss you but I think its to late.
In and out of my life youve come leaving so much behind.
but now you must move on it's time to say so-long
My fears have come true I really am losing you,
But please always remember me as I will always remember you,
As I sit and think of you,Continually I'll be missing you!
thank you for letting your little girl and your family be such an example to us all.
